Star*Select
Provides component database access and management from PLM of schematics.
■ Electronic or electric item descriptions are no more resident in the EDA system’s library. Just graphical and connectivity data are captured in the EDA system.
■ Engineers wish to allocate item descriptions just to critical parts in the design. All other items are to be allocated by default. For example the design engineer is not interested in items like decoupling capacitors or pull up resistors. The engineer prefers to focus on new parts like the new processor along with cash memory and drivers.
■ A design engineer is not interested in determining electronic components early in the design cycle just because format requirements of the EDA system demand it. Star*Select supports EDA libraries without item description.
■ Item attributes vary with the view of the application. This is configured in star_select.config.
■ Pre-selected components for final choice.
■ Place attributes at the symbol in schematics.
Modes of the Operation
■ Item selection - item attributes are allocated from the item selection menu in PLM to schematic symbols while they are placed in the schematic editor.
■ Item allocation - item attributes are allocated to preplaced symbols.
■ Late item assignment. Some ittribute sets are assigned, others are assigned automatically from the default assignment list.
■ Default item assignment: items are allocated automatically with BOM extraction.
